Sunday Song Day

Wow how annoying is that title (yolo i guess)
Wait, I promise I don;t actually say things like that and this isn;t going to be "a thing".
But a tune I'm really digging at the moment is a song from Vampire Weekend's new album Modern Vampires of the City: Diane Young
(A play on Dying Young -in case it took you a second to figure out ;) )
Here it is enjoy:

Sun Kissed

Now I am a much bigger fan of not only cold weather but dressing for winter however now that the sun has kissed us its time for Summer Inspirations. Now for me this is always changing, I'll go from envying those who can wear patterns on patterns on patterns and not look like a circus clown or a flower garden, to trying to emulate the known bohemian style of the Olsen twins by layering long skirts, lace vests and flowy tops. However, what's really doing it for me right now is the whites and jeans combination. Now, I've always loved white- it is in fact my favorite color and a friend of my mom's used to say "During winter i wear black, during summer i wear white". And, with exceptions of course, this is the basis of what i go by. During winter my closet is packed with navy, gray, black, charcoal, deep purples and so on. When summer comes, I wear a lot of whites, tans, an occasional pop of color, (and yes, navy too). So like i was saying, jeans and white, i think just creates a really crisp fresh looking outfit that always looks good but doesn't require a lot of work.

2 things:
1) I realize this can get hot during the summer so theres a substitution with shorts below just fyi
2) This is really great because its effortlessly easy. A plain white tee looks crisp and casual with colorful sandals or white/black converse, or you can do a cute summer wedge with a more intricate white top to dress yourself up a little.

Now, the tricky thing with white tees and jeans is that it can get really boring really fast and if you are interested in fashion you usually are looking to have some unique elements, to add something fun to your outfits. For example above, i love love love this Casio wristwatch above ( and you can find it here for only 54$!) Or do something really fun like these Frida Kahlo Socks below ( here for only 9 dollars!!) These socks under converse, or a white retro sandal with some cutoff shorts and a white tee might be the perfect edge to your outfit.

Okay so these jeans shorts with lace on the bottom are really in right now and I'm having mixed feelings about them so i think ill do a separate post just on these in a little bit!

Movies and Fashion // Out of Africa

Film is undeniably a pinhole to explore fashion in a variety of ways. If you're looking for a great movie that has a great actors, great scenery and fabulous, fabulous, fabulous costume designs and not to mention 7 Academy awards, you should definitely check out "Out of Africa". Out of Africa is a romantic drama staring Meryl Streep and the (once) dashing Robert Redford taking place in British East Africa. Throughout the movie, Meryl Streep is the definition of a Ralph Lauren Muse, sporting safari inspired pieces and garments rich with whites, ivories and greens. Here are some of the costumes I really enjoyed seeing:

All of these outfits are very classic pieces. And true to the classic era the tailored suits, occasional ties and long, stiff boots (which are to die for) add a touch of masculinity to the feminine ora -- which is exactly what Meryl's character embodies. These Karen Blixen inspired outfits are not only great but are found in abundance! There are many costume changes during the whole movie so there is always something to catch your eye!

2013 Fall Ready-to-Wear

So I didn't get a chance to do a super extensive look through with this years fall ready to wear, but i did get to browse through about 50 or so collections and one of the runways i really enjoyed looking through was the rag&bone one. Don't get me wrong i didn't like all of the pieces that came strutting down the cat walk, but some i thought were just really cool pieces. Like seriously these tailored jackets are so kick-ass. Here's a few I wouldn't mind having in my closet....at all... :

Me // My Room

So I need to get all of my fashion posts sorted, and i figured for now I would leave you guys with some pictures of my room as a small way to get to know me and a part of my taste.

So Im really obsessed with white. It's literally my favorite color, especially when it comes to rooms. I just like everything to feel open, fresh and relaxing.

sorry my bed is such a mess, didn't have the patience to clean up..whoops.

Okay so sorry for this shitty try hard edit but I a really in love with my new kilim. I got it from Anthropologie on like a super duper steroid sale. I like it because the patterns resemble your standard turkish influence designs, but the colors really just bring a pop of color to my room, so it's really just fun.

Finally Published// A Warm Welcome

Hello World!,

(note: I promise, this will be one of the longest posts you will read, most of the content will be very visually rich!!)

Well, maybe not world, at least yet ;). If you're reading this post-thankyou! You are probably one of my first few followers, or you are really dedicated to this blog and scrolled all the way down to my first post, either way both are totally worthy of honorable mentions. I've been working on launching this blog for several months now, and finally scraped up the time and energy to put all of my ideas to paper. I want to keep this sweet and short// with this blog i hope to do a couple things:
1. Express my own individual taste
2. Share some of my experiences
3. Connect with people all over the world
4. Display and grow my inspiration
5. Send out "Good vibes and stuff"

Just a few details you (might) be interested in:

The Name:
"Vibes and Stuff" is the name of a popular song by a hip-hop group called "A Tribe Called Quest". I chose this for a couple of reasons. First, I think every personal decision/style choice sends out a certain vibe, and since i will be talking about a lot of stuff, the name seemed relevant. I'm also a fan of the hip-hop group itself and recommend it to those looking for an old-school, smooth sounding hip-hop. The group in its time was known for having a much lighter, fun, relaxing sound when many artists of the time (especially in queens) were talking about the struggles and hardships of the streets. I hope my blog can, in a much less dramatic way, be a breath of fresh air to those who visit, something different.

The Content:
This will be primarily a fashion blog focusing on different styles, haute couture, street style, DIY style and many more style-centered ideas. However, I won't only talk about fashion as in "Z0mG what am i going to wear?1" - and I'm definitely not a "coco-chanel-lover-4-eva.tumblr.com" type of blog (As in I don't want to post a bunch of pictures of supermodels wearing Chanel and then call myself fashion foreword). I want to reach much beyond on that, so in essence i want to explore the effect of music on fashion, different eras and their influence on runways today, architecture, design, consumer/product research as well as advertising and marketing when it comes to fashion products and throughout the process I'm also hoping to learn a few // (A LOT) of things.

Okay, I know that was a lot to take in. (Thank you for sticking it out to the end). Like I said the majority of posts WILL NOT be this long at all. Personally, i like looking at things visually and tend to skip the long text posts so I'll stick to that foundation. As for myself, you guys will learn about my through the course of my posts.

Thank you for reading, and i really hope you enjoy yoo.
